We've been hearing about the major snow loads you guys have been getting. I suspect Jack Frost is overworked and may start complaining to his boss, Mother Nature.

Why don't you check out the weather in Vancouver or Kelowna? Those are nice places to consider moving to. Hint hint. Subtle eh?

OMG you deficient mother how could you be so neglligent!!11!1 ;P

Seriously, I think you can trust your instincts on this one. Although I am completely unqualified in the mommy advice department, I'm going to rely on my impeccable credentials of having once been an infant and I say relaxed, unstressed Mommy + baby being allowed to take things at her own pace is better than stressed, browbeaten by doctor Mommy + baby tantrums. Or as they would say in Science, RUM + BBATTTAHOP > SBM + BT.

Also, I recommend getting a second opinion from another doctor re: how urgent it is for her to start eating food right now. Your doctor sounds a little drunk on power. If Evelyn is low in iron/protein, then fine, but if it's a case of she could be at some unspecified date in the future, then relax. Also, are there formulas available that have an extra shot of protein & iron? If deficiency is a real issue, could you perhaps introduce a bit of that from time to time if you haven't already.

Meanwhile, here's some advice from total strangers who similarly do not have any real qualifications whatsoever but hey, on the internet everyone can dispense advice.

My friend has been letting his son type me messages during our online chat sessions since he was about Evelyn's age! It's fun.

If she's saying she's excited to meet me, tell her I'm very excited to finally meet her, too!

Karen, that's very sad. I'm sorry to hear it. Let's hope that he recovers and that things get better for him and his family.

Karen! I can't believe a month has gone by; I have been thinking of you every day. I am so happy to see your beautiful daughter; I had my ultrasound on Thursday and we are having exactly what we expected: a girl as well (I chart my ovulation, so we've always known, much to my parents disappointment - ha!)! I'm sorry the labour was such a harrowing experience, but we can never predict those things, and she's here, and healthy! Maybe someday our daughters will play together.

Stay strong & healthy, your email friend in ÃŽle-Perrot,

Leilani :)

[...] Gwen, Evie and I went to Shaika cafe for lunch and I had a ham, mango, avocado and goat cheese sandwich. We had to bundle her up in winter clothing including her hat which was way too large (since I bought one sized for a 9 month old). But it worked. For supper we made artichokes with almond sauce and trout (cooked according to a recipe from La Bonne Cuisine). We also had some donuts from the Polish bakery, which Lisa introduced us to last year.
That photo makes it look like there's a miniature Julius Caeser holding court in your livingroom. That's not far off, I expect?

As I read this entry, I found the word "poo bomb" running through my head, to the tune of Tom Jones's "Sexbomb". And this shall probably haunt me every time I hear the song from now on. :P I was also reminded of the poo bomb in The Story About the Baby -- you guys have probably already seen this site or his book, but in case not, it might be good preparation for the ickier things in store for you.
