My mother always made this amazing fruitcake for as long as I can remember. I don’t know where she got it from (likely a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook) but it is really delicious. Most people think fruitcake is dry and flavourless, and frankly most fruitcake is. This recipe, however, avoids the problem by adding »

It has been yet another one of those weeks. The apartment across the hall was recently vacated and our landlord needed to do some major fix-ups before being able to rent it out, which resulted in the floors being varnished last weekend. We knew the smell would be strong, but it turned out to be »

Ever since we bought the espresso machine last summer there has been “talk” of getting a good grinder. It’s quite hard to get the coffee places here to give you a good grind for espresso (and as we have both learned it’s really important) so I caved and Dan picked up a grinder this week. »
