Naptime, anyone???

Good news. I recently started maternity leave. Good thing too, as there is a lot to be done over the next few months (to be covered in a future post).

Bad news. For the past three months Evelyn has decided she doesn’t want to have an afternoon nap. Not good. She still needs one a her age and she gets very cranky in the afternoons because she hasn’t slept. It’s hard for everyone – she’s tired and she gets very needy which means that whoever is in charge can’t get anything done. Dan has been trying his best to deal with it and had found a few ways around it – namely playing music, reading stories to her, sitting in her room with her until she falls asleep or even sleeping with her. Today was another no-nap day until 4:45, at which point exhaustion must have won and she finally slept. Since 1:30 Dan and I had both been trying to get her to sleep and she herself said she wanted to nap, but after a few minutes of lying down she would get restless and shout “No I can’t sleep!” and get up again. It pretty much ruins an afternoon.
