Well it just keeps coming – yesterday Dan’s grandmother passed away. She lived in London Ontario had was fighting a relapse of cancer. Dan’s parents arrived Sunday night and were there when she passed away Monday morning. For whatever reason, the funeral is tomorrow. Dan and his siblings have been scrambling to book last minute flights (or in Dan’s case a last-minute train ticket) since they had to book their travel Monday evening. It really isn’t enough time to make arrangements for work/childcare/school and I know not everyone was able to make it. Dan hastily packed this morning and took off on the 9:40 train, missing three more days of school (2 for travelling). Last time we spoke the train was just pulling in to London and he’s probably eating supper with his parents and some of his siblings right now.
We toyed with the idea of renting a car and leaving tonight (that way I could come since I would only miss 1 1/2 days of work) but the idea of driving on the 401 scared both of us and anyway, Dan was able to do some homework on the train. So I am still here in Montreal, having a lazy “girl’s night” (well there are two of us). But I need to get in gear and clean the bathroom – seriously I have only seen one bathroom worse than this one and it was on a greyhound bus that had travelled all the way across the country.
Poor baby (who I shall refer to as “kicky” until we decide on her name) had a bit of a new experience today. I made myself about 1/3 a cup of instant coffee at work today and she must have had her first caffeine high since she was moving around non-stop for about three hours. She also got what I think were hiccups at lunch today and kicked me so hard I jumped back from the table and my co-workers thought I was crazy until I told them what happened. It’s really strange to see her moving around and kicking – cute and freaky at the same time.

Above are scans of the last ultrasound (November 6th). You can very clearly see her leg extended, right in the middle of a kick. I am going to have to start a Flickr gallery of all of the images, hopefully at Christmas. In the meantime I need to research cord blood banking a bit more and get a registration package.
Oh and I finally fired my bank today.

My condolences on Dan’s Grandmother.
I’m not sure what Kicky is doing with her arm in the second scan, but it sort of looks like she holding it up in an attempt to ward off the paparazzi. I fear your daughter plans to grow up to be a thuggish celebrity!
