well, I caved

After months of problems with the embedded gallery on my web page (hence no new photo albums) I finally caved in and bought a Flickr membership. Today I was finally able to back up my data from the server and I successfully updated WordPress, but the Gallery2 update was completely messed up. I spent about 4 hours trying to fix it without success. What can I say, I just don’t know enough about php scripts to understand all the details in WordPress and Gallery and how the gallery plug-in embeds itself in WordPress…and it was looking hopeless. Dan finally suggested Flickr (actually he suggested it in May but I was too stubborn). Seriously, this was an act of last resort because I already pay for my domain name and hosting plan and it really sucks to have to pay even more to store the photos somewhere else. But the flickr interface is very nice, it’s super-user friendly, and inserting the photostrip in the web page took about 10 seconds (compared to a few days with Gallery). Dan also says there’s a way to embed it so I’ll give that a try later on. In the meantime I have to upload all my images and organize the albums again. *sigh*…
