Wow I just read that Maclean's article - good story. I added it to my delicious links. A very nice overview of what has happened. Indeed, its hard to believe how different it is today from the mid 90's with respect to female "empowerment" and all that. Such nonsense. I like how they do a parody of it on Arrested Development and call it Girls with Low Self-Esteem.
Tyler I did listen to song - ewwww.
Thanks for the outrage and indigation everyone!

Ha ha! Welcome to old coot-hood, cuz. Re: The renaissance of women as sex objects, Macleans had a good cover story on this phenomena a few weeks ago. It seems "female empowerment" and "liberation" is now defined as dressing and acting like an adolescent boy's fantasy. Pleh.

Re: That song, I just realized what it reminds me of: Some sort of Bizarro-World Dr Seuss book. Well, I guess that tells us the reading level of the folk in BEP.

Agree with your comments entirely - great game, but half-time show should have been preceeded by some kind of decency warning. Only saw enough of it to make me switch channels - when did lewd, crude, and offensive begin to equal entertainment? The sad part is that kids do want to emulate this stuff and our society seems to proscribe speaking out against such trash. We rail against pollution in all other forms, yet demand the right to pollute our minds and our kids' minds with the basest and foulest trash the marketing moguls can come up with. Considering the effectiveness of all other forms of marketing, what can we expect from a generation raised on this stuff? Catering to man's basest instincts has always been good business, but I can't see how it promotes freedom from fear or the pursuit of happiness if those are the guidelines for human interaction. And you don't have to be a "grouchy old-person" to understand right from wong, and call it what it is.
